Picture mania..

Run run for the hills the pictures are here.

My felted bag. The little pin needs some bead work done on it and the opening still needs a zipper.

The back of the bag and its silk tie strap. SO classy I know but it really looks good slung over one shoulder. Its also so so so so soft.

The wonderful stuff from my secret pal. The punkins are Becky's but thought they needed a photo debut.

Look at the wonderful stitch markers and cloth I got. Aren't they pretty.

Look at the pretty yarn. You wish you could touch it because it is so soft and wonderful. I have big ideas for both. The colors and not really true in this pic but they are so perfect. WoW.

See the turtle frame. I have been trying to find my pictures so I can put one in it. It is all fabulous. I feel so lucky. Thank you thank you thank you!

OK I am off to knit.

Dear Secret Pal

Thanks Secret Pal.

( I will have pics later so you will have to toon in later to see what come in the post. BUT be prepared it is so awesome you might go loco.)

What I know about my SP other then she rocks. She has kids, posts from Seattle, and I think has pets. I try and read all the SPIII blogs and RAOK blogs so I like to look for who is whose secret pal. I don't want to know I just like the mystery.

Off on cloud nine.

Fluff and stuff

Ok so I have not felted my bag yet but I have plans to do that in the near (tonight) future. If I feel better. I don't feel so hot.

But here are the pre felt pictures.

The Surprise Bag
This is not true to color but I was having lighting issues. The weird white string is supposed to help it keep its shape when you felt it. I am a little Leary of this because it presses four pieces of knitted fabric together. If you look in the bottom right hand corner you get a half shot of Steve. What you don't see is that he is flinging his ball at my feet. Throw me the the ball throw me the ball...That's the only thing on his mind. EVER.

This one is just a different view. The pointy part is where I will attach the straps. It is hard to explain. This is the front the back is all Stst

This one is closer to true color. This is the center pattern design in the front and it is also the same pattern as the inside flaps. This is what it looks like open. I did not use any fuzzy yarn.

But I had a lot of fun dyeing this.

Then while I was taking these pics. The dogs were hanging out with me and look at what the cat was doing....

He is stalking the dog food. He did one bowl then the other. Very very sneaky it never knew he was coming.

My secret Pal wrote me another note...HELLO! I have been having fun with my SP shopping and reading about others secret pals or RAOK friends.

From big to small

The felted back pack is almost finished... I have it all knitted up and will take a pic this evening. Then I will felt and show you it completely finished.

I think it will be very cute. The colors turned out really well. I don't know if I want to use a leather strap or a ribbon strap???

Punk, dog, and yarn loving

Look a Pixel Punk kindda like me. In a thin trendy type way.

I had no knitting today. Zero. Why you ask because I was having a doggy photo shoot.

Look at his pretty hair do. Worth a million bucks he should be doing doggy ads for.... well for..... looking darn cute.

Happy dog and his ball.

The little white dog would not stay still long enough to be added in on this photo shoot. Pretty much all other animals thought he had a bit to much kibble today.

So I will try and comence with the normal programing tomorrow.

Knittery

Knit group at Mabel's Cafe & Knittery went smashing. I might even go to pirate knitting next weekend.

I worked on my kool aide dyed surprise bag. They are going to get Lorna's lace in this week. I am excited as I have never seen it before but lots of people seem to make socks out of it and I want to try.

It was also Knit out down town but it was raining and icky so I did not go. Those who did go said it was rainy and icky. But there is a fiber festival in Canby next weekend that I would like to go to on Sat. Any one else want to go? B?

Wool-ease makes a really comfy wrist rest.

I have been contemplating making a slip cover for my couch or pseudo re-upholstering it and I got this nice red cord material but I don't know weather to slip cover the arms and back then make pillow cases for the cushions or just slip cover the whole thing. I would have to seams showing with the later. ????

So off to finish a red square. I can't wait to be done with these.

A knit along

Look I joined a knit along

You know you wanna join in on the fun. You were eyeing it too.

Hosted by Sheep in the City and MidnightKnitter

It is from the new Knitty I am so excited to try it. But I have to finish at least two more squares before I can start. I think this will be a riot at Winter time as well as Hallows night it is perfect for covering littles ears.

ooo ooooo

Hello good people of blog land,

My secret pal sent me a card with a nice note. Hey Secret Pal I have the card on my mantel because the scene on the front of the card is so nice. I sent a box to my secret Pal with the same pic on it... I just thought that was a wink.

My Secret pal liked her gift.

I am still knitting red squares. But I swatched for a surprise bag and during this swatching I learned that my washing machine is not worth beans. The spin cycle spins out on to the kitchen floor.

It has been raining like mad.

My try at Haiku!
It was hard work to end right
The sad part good bye

I caught the haiku bug from Michelle
If you want to Haiku - it goes 5 syllables, 7 syllables and then 5 syllables - with no particular rhyme.

My secret pal got her gift and liked it.....Yeah.

back to the regularly scheduled red square.

I Got a RAOK..that Rocks

I spent very little time doing none wedding stuff this weekend. I am so pooped, Mel was lovely in her gown and Scott was very nice in a TIE. Took a lot of people to get him to wear it. But it was grand. I don't want to wear my Bridesmaid dress ever again nor do I want to see blue material for a while. I hung a night sky for there breeze way with lights underneath to make stars. That is 12 yards of material 60 inches wide 10 feet in the air.

A lovely depiction of me making a weird face in loo of not having any knitting pics. I have been working on my afghan squares. Red red red. I also died some wool with cool aid with the help from Vidardottir . It is a mix of reds purples and blues. It will make a cool felting project. But it won't match my outfit below.

I also went to woolen Mills to buy wedding stuff and picked up Pendleton Wool. One cone in blue and one in lit tan to dye. I also got some material to make curtains for my front room. Lastly I got undetermined Pendleton yarn it normally has enough wool to felt. $13.90 for it all. That rocks that is almost a pound of wool.

Yeah to future projects.

Then here I a funny pic.

The chat has had a bit to much to eat me thinks. You can't see the third empty dog bowl but it was quite funny to walk in and see Sebastian looking like he ate all the dog food and wanted more.

I have not been home to look at it but I also got RAOK today with some great Bead projects. I am stoked to go and see it. Thanks to Lynne I am so happy and excited about it.

I sent a RAOK out and it should be home in a day or two. I also Sent my Secret Pal a present. Whoo hoo for the gifting.

Back to the squares.

SP3...add ons

22. What is your favorite animated character or a favorite animal/bird?

I am not a big animated character type person....Yes I watch cartoons(ha ha ha). However I do like turtles very much.

23. What is your favorite holiday?

I am quite fond to Christmas and Thanksgiving. Both because I get to see all the wonderful family that I have and secondly because my mom is a wonderful cook and I like to partake of home cooking when I can get. I also like to buy gifts.

24. Is there anything that you collect?

I collect turtles made out of natural things, like wood. I also collect glass bottles and ballet figures.

Really a knit post...Where

So I have not really posted any knit pictures. So here is the Flower Power bag I knit for Becky's B-day.... And then stole back to take pics of before it went missing.

Taaa daaa

The front has a flower from an online afghan site. The bottom piece is crochet and the very first I have every done with that. I had a lot of fun with this. It is lined with bright pink stripes you can kind of see them on the front pic peaking out from the top. The handle is a p2tog and the middle piece of the flower is an attached crochet circle. If I were to do it again I would make the blue square in front a pocket and knit the whole body striped, then attach the pocket.

So the Tree bag is next to finish in bag land. It only needs to be lined. I need some great 70ish green fabric to line it with. Or should I do contrast and put Cream with pink flowers on the inside... hrm.

On to secret pal notions...I picked up some fun stuff for her but she has not answered my questions so I hope she got them and will like what I have to send her. I got a couple Raok things to send out as well.

More later gater.

The Farmhouse

Which flock do you follow?

this quiz was made by alanna

Erm I went to the bestest of the best yarn stores in the world yesterday. At least my little bit of world. IT had everything I have never seen in a yarn shop before...They had yarn that was 105$ a skein...That's like almost a quarter of my rent in a month. I have never seen so much haindpainted and spun fibers in my life. They had a whole room for just sock yarn...a whole room. The shop lady was a little gruff but the yarn made up for it. I could have spent hours there. As it was I only spent a minute I was so overwhelmed. MUST GO BACK.

I got a secret pal

I know who my secret pal is ....Does the amazing secret pal dance..... I am so excited she seems nice....

planning planning..... Yeah

I am such and incredibly large dork. But I like me.

Someone has me as a secret pal....its a shocker of a day.

Here I give to you the getting to know you Questions from SP3

1.Are you a yarn snob (do you prefer high-end/natural fibers)? Do you avoid Red Heart and Lion Brand? Or is it all the same to you?

I am not a yarn snob. I think everything is good for something. If I had to choose from knitting with high end yarn or not knitting I would say pass me the Red Heart.

2.Do you spin? Crochet?

I do not spin but am hoping to learn how in the near future. The idea of being involved in a project so much is exciting to me. I also think dyeing roving sounds fun.

I have just started to crochet. I am on my third doily. I can’t read a crochet pattern but I can follow a chart. I like how small the yarn or thread is with crochet.

3.Do you have any allergies? (smoke, pets, fibers, perfume, etc.)

I am allergic to eggplant, feathers, and white diamond type perfumes. I also am allergic to much vitamin C. Its crazy what to much C can do to a person.

4.How long have you been knitting?

I have been knitting on and off since I was 10. Then have for the last two years Knit avidly.

5.Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list?

I have no wish lists. I will see if I can create one.

6.What's your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products etc.)

I love vanilla almond. Or a sent called Mari Mari… things that are uplifting and soothing.

7.Do you have a sweet tooth?
I do like sweets especially salt water taffy. I am a hard candy fiend I just like it.

8.What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do?

We could be here all night if I listed all of them. I like to sew, I am just learning how to put together clothes. I bead and have for a long time, knitting and beading at the same time is a passion. ( I can never remember if it is bead knitting or knit beading). I enjoy turning old ties into needle cases. I use a plasma cutter to shape metal. And a thousand other projects.. I like to DIY stuff.

9.What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if you want to make her a CD)
I have a CD player but nothing fancier. I like many types of music. KD Lang, Five o clock people, Montgomery Gentry, Indigo Girls, Charlotte Church. I happen to be studying for my Theatrical Design Degree so love classical, musical, and opera… I am a lover of all except rap. There had to be one.

10.What's your favorite color? Or--do you have a color family/season/palette you prefer?

This is kind of like the music question. I am drawn towards jewel tones or fire tones. I wear a lot of autumn shades and water colors. I decorate in Pastel greens and eggplant. My favorite color changes with the day.

11.What is your family situation? Do you have any pets?

I have a Girlfriend, Sonny Ann…yes that means I am …. We have several pets technically she has the pets but I love them to. Stevie Ray a blind little white puppy(2), Shep a very possessive pom (old), Cody a blue healer who just wants love and a bath (12), Sebastian the cat of many moods (4), Renegade the rooster who just appeared (?), Mr. & Mrs. Bunny they were adopted (?), and lastly we have a couple of frogs and a fish.

12.What are your life dreams? (really stretching it here, I know)

To be happy.

13.What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with?

I don’t think I have found my favorite yarn yet. I like soft fuzzy yarns. Or smooth thick yarns… Damn I just like yarn and am patient enough to work through even crappy yarn.

14.What fibers do you absolutely *not* like?

I am not a big fan of some of the novelty boa yarns. They are a little to floofy for me. But I have made several scarves out of them.

15.What is/are your current knitting obsession/s?

Bags bags bags….I am currently obsessed with making bags. I want to make a felted needle bag. Like the old knitting tubes.

16.What is/are your favorite item/s to knit?

Afghans and bags. Not necessarily in that order.

17.What are you knitting right now?

Numerous things. I am working on a Pirate afghan for my Girl. A baby blanket for my HS friend, a swap-afghan in reds, brown, and black. I also have a pair of beaded fingerless gloves to finish, a baby wrap, and bag that needs lining. Plus a couple that I have sent to the back of the line.

18.What do you think about ponchos? (this is really a curiosity question for us)

I have never worn a poncho and can’t quite fathom knitting one for myself. I could see my sis in one and I imagine she will ask for one.

19.Do you prefer straight or circular needles?

I like Circular that have a nice weight to them other wise I like dpn’s then lastly I like a good pair of straight needles.

20.How did you learn to knit?

My Mom showed me the basics then gave me a book.

21.How old is your oldest UFO?

Five months. I don’t have a long term memory for things that are not in my daily life. There might be something older but it is long forgotten and stuffed in the corner.

Who thats a lot of me...But I have a secret pal to spoil.

O my head is spinning

I got a RAOK today.

It was happily hanging out in my email when I checked this afternoon. It is so perfect and makes my day light and happy and just the best. Many Many thanks go out to Plath.

Basking in a happy glow.

I found caramel Tea, Raspberry, and some blackberry. Yummy

Forward go the projects...

The necklace

and a closer look The bigger beads have painting on them to represent flowers and little green leaves. There is a center bead to hang from the center with a bigger flower. The black swallowed all the color.

is coming along slowly

Then we have the Table doily

Everything is going forward and soon I will have the necklace finished and will be moving on to the square swap... Must finish on time. But first I have to find in which box they are hiding.

The house is wonderful and I will be so happy to add a little splash of color to it.
