Loving

So I am browsing around patterns because I can't knit at the minute but I can surf the web. While surfing I found this whole line of patterns that I really like. Not all of them but most of them. So I thought I would share them with you. Go see them all.

I am very fond of news boy, kago (but with different collar), These ( wouldn't they be cool in a shifting color yarn) , and the flirty ruffles scarf.

So reading along and the patterns are from a local shop...one I have just never been to. I may have to adventure outside my comfort shops.....

Wait...

My Alaska roll just rolled across my desk.....

Work was crazy. A little depressing even. Fridays are a long day for me. Friday is my Monday but also they day I take the bus to work. I get up around 730 and have to leave my house by 810 to park at the max park and ride. I ride max till about 910 where I catch a bus up the hill to start work by 10. Now I love to ride the bus and max but I work a ten hour shift. It is 810 pm by the time I am catching the bus back down the hill. I don't get home until a little after 930. So all in all my Friday is wiped out in a whorl wind of travel and work. The good thing is I can knit knit knit like crazy on the max.

I have less than 25 rows on my shawl and am through the first pattern on the fair Isle hat. Last week was not a knitting week. I need to be up to the decreases on the hat by next class and I want to finish the shawl. So I Can go SOCKTOBER crazy. Abundant Yarns is supposed to have a sock sale..... SOCKS>>>>>drool.

SO my long day is at its end and my sushi is finished.
Good night Dear Yarn Friends

Very few words.

This is the yarn for my Fair Isle hat class. Not what I would normally choose but they will blend with Sonny's taste and scrubs. They remind me of a Portland Hippie and a woodland Gnome.

WEEKEND IN 3.5 HOURS

I am not counting or anything....Honest.

Its just that I went to the fiber fair and I want to play with what I got. I want to show you pictures and samples.... You know gab about what I got with someone who cares. But my camera is out of batteries and I am still at work.

There are several really wonderful things that I want to play with. I got a variety of different types of silk to try. Some for carding and mixing and some for dying. A silk cap, bombyx noil, silk hankies. I really wanted to find some fabulous bombyx silk to dye but I did not find any. But I know where to get it. I will play with my others first.

I also got this pretty pretty braid of merino silk It might have a third fiber but I can't double check at the minute. Its more muted tones than I would normally go for but the flow is very pretty. Pictures to follow when I get batteries.

One of my favorite things I learned about in my spinning class way back in March was about this company in MT that makes these prepackaged batts in all sorts of weird combos. One called Montana cowgirl that is purple and denim with little bits of this and that. The other is sinful tears and its this real hot reddish pink with highlights of silk. I want to rip them open and spin outta my bubble.

The only yarn I bought was blue moon fiber arts harlotty sock yarn in lightweight. I picked it out for socks for Sonny then put it back so she could pick out her own colorway....Daunting task when faced with a whole booth of colorways. She picked out the same one. Makes me smile. Its a green and yellow and brown combo.

Then lastly I got an item I have been coveting to dye....mohair locks. I would have loved kid mohair locks but will settle with youthful mohair locks. All white and fluffy not as soft as kid but close. Break out my dyes and get to cooking. These are very pretty locks no vm and already washed some are teased out a little but most are still clumpy but not hard.

Can you see why I am jumping to get home and play. Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh. 3 hours and 10 min to go.
Pictures will follow...maybe tomorrow once I get my fix.

Question of celluar nature

Do we all own cell phones?

My house has two plus a house phone.

Thats a lot of phone calling to justify. LOTS.

I remember being a teen and calling people and talking for hours....I mean hours. But now every conversation is short sweet.

  • Need bread ok milk to ok love you see you later.
  • going to knitting be back before nine loves ya
  • yeah I can let the dogs out love you bye

I don't rmember the last time I had a more indepth conversation. I lie my mother can talk to me about nothing for hours. I don't remember what she is talking about sometimes but she has a nice voice to listen to.

So I have been listening to more then the phone recently. I have been listening to Cast On a lovely little pod cast. Quite nice to knit to a lovely mix of humor, music, and info.

try it.

I have socks I want to finish and some I want to make...

At rest

I don't want to put this down. I have less than forty rows to go. Since I have been dog sitting at a house with three channels and one fuzzy channel, I have watched a lot of movies. So I finished a fuzzy rainbow mohair scarf. It is very long....all three of the lord of the rings movie long.

Tomorrow I have my first fair isle class.

Yeah!

mEoW MeOw MEOW

Frankie is just hanging around.....Taking up his post under the piano bench but I guess is just

to heavy to hold up and he has to rest his chin on that bar. He is a needy needy cat. This is only one of several very odd new Frankie habbits.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

This blurry blob is supposed to be a pic of some stichmarkers and beads on top of my knitting. I had a run in with a dog toy...slimey dog toy. I am trying to decide what color beads I want to put on the bottom. I am thinking round and not bicone but the colors are the same in both. I am thinking the beads will help weight down the bottom and add a little sparkle....I am all for sparkle. The green seems to blend in the most which I think is good but if you hit the light it goes bam.

Whats I been spinning. My keyboard is black so the colors are a little skewed. Its a sea like greens and blues. I heart it.

Its raining and I heart that toooooo.

click those stickies....o tell me about the knit picks needles!

Sinking and shrinking

Sinking that's what I have been doing sinking into the Harry Potter books. Its true I had not read them...Even though Sonny has been bugging me to. SO we went on a beach trip the last weekend of august and I started....I just finished number 6 tonight. Ummmmm J.K. Rowlings hurry up and write some more....PLEASE. Do you know what happens when you google Harry Potter? Don't try it.

I used to read anything I could find. But as an adult staying up and reading 800 plus pages in two sittings is a little harder to do. I still do it but I don't have the ability to sleep through my job like I could math class. But reading a good book is so warm so comforting. I have moved enough that I have taken my rather large collection to the bare bones....It grows still but I haven't kept as many so so books for a while. I am very happy to add the Potter series to my trove. Finishing a book always makes me a little sad. I don't want to leave my friends or never find out how they turn out or end up. Its all in someone's head and I will never know what truly happens. Do you think authors have a final end for there characters in the end? Weather they write another book or not?

What do you think it is that makes a book so good that you want it to continue? I can't imagine having grown up not having read a zillion books as a child. Which is better the adult section or the young adult section of the library? I as a young adult could not stand the young adult section always went to the adult section now I have some of my favorite books that are young adult books.

What book have you stayed up all night to read? Most recently the Potter series but always Little Women has been my kicker.

I was so busy reading I did but knit half a row on my shawl tonight.....But now that I have finished those books I guess I get to press on. ...I am at the last of five repeats of a somewhat boring part of the shawl.

Are you a muggle or a witch?

Little this little that....

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Knitting pretty good. Does not look like much...You know how lace looks when its not blocked. Scrumbble bumble all scroochy faced.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

looks a little better all spread out. Can you guess which shawl it is? The yarn is silk and quite lovely. Blue moon fiber creation. I went to the Farm house knit wed night knit night. It was a little different than the other knit nights I have gone to. They were all very nice. I hope to be able to go again. The person who dyed my yarn was there...in person I actually met her two nights in week.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

So other than making some really silly stitch markers. I was to lazy to go and find my base metal supplies so I used sterling...kindda silly but very pretty. This the necklace I made. It took a long time. But I got to wear it to a musical. Little Women...Very good muscial. You would not think it but I thought it was quite nice.

And finally what has been spinning. Lots of spinning. This is a big bucket and its overfull. But I have had fun.
