I have added a poll ----- >

Stamping

Changing things up a little.

Silver ink on black paper.

I like it. The stamping part is a little messy but not as bad a glue. Glue is my enemy. My previous cards were white with pink. I liked them but I think I like this better. I might not have chosen this time to start a change but I can't get the pink cards anymore.

This is tray one of four or five.
Earrings make me happy. They are perfect just about all the time.

Getting Ready

Frankie has been helping me get ready for shows.
It is all about the earrings.
Lots and Lots of earrings. Fun with brass, sterling, and copper . . . and I have taken a new step and oxidized some of my sterling and copper. It looks great. I am looking forward to a fusing class next week.
So far this is were I am going to be this holiday season.

I wish

I wish you could hear my dog snore. For an animal so small he makes a very large sound.

I wish the yellow, red, and orange leaves stayed on the trees just a little longer.

I wish for a cookie.

Sleep well all!

Short Boxes

Funky Short Square Boxes
Start the same way you do with the taller square boxes.... I wrote it a few days ago.

This is where it starts to change. Add one more fold to this step.Unfold your second fold and take the flat side and fold it up to the line you just made.

You now have a lot more lines on your square when it is unfolded.

Your lines are going to be the same.

Fold the tips to the center

Fold that second flap down so your side walls are 1/2 as tall.

Yay you made a short box!

As with the tall boxes make the bottom piece about 1 cm smaller than the top.

I am loving the mixture of a Short top and a tall bottom box.

Super cute.

I am stuck working.

The Basic box

Start with a square. I am using a 12x12 inch piece of paper for the top. It will turn out the same size as the big green box above.
Lightly draw lines from corner to corner. (Make a big x)

Fold the tip of the square to the center of the x. Do this on all four corners.

Next with the square tip at the center of the x fold the flat edge to the flat line from the x. Do this on all four sides.

When you unfold each side this is what you should have.

Next you will cut four lines. I have used a pen to mark the lines that need cutting. Once you get going you will not need to draw these lines. (When looking at the folded paper you will see three 4 square boxes in a row. The center most box is the top portion of the box. You will not want to cut that square. )

Once you cut the sides free you will have a piece of paper like such.

Take the the two points from the sides you did not cut and fold them into the center. ( you are getting ready to fold the walls of the box)

With the tips pointed in take the sides of those triangles and fold them up. Leave the cut portion down. ( They look like arms getting ready to hug)
Take the up folded sides and make them meet the opposite folded up side.
They should frame the center 4 square and go across the cut portion. (These are the walls of your box)
Now take the folded down piece and fold it over the frame. Your box is now done.
To make the bottom piece follow the same steps but start with a piece about a 1cm smaller.
Check back for a variation tomorrow.

I have been working on my holiday packaging for my stitch makers and jewelry. I have some fun new box modifications to share. I allways make tiny boxes and these are much larger. Perfect for shows this season.

There is something about folding paper. I know I complain sometimes but i really like folding the boxes and seeing how different each one comes out.

Kitten and I are out but hope to bring you are new boxes later this week. After we go to the book store.

Book inspired

I am having fun with book inspired stitch markers.

I love reading and never have enough time for it. Recently I have read some books and had to keep them alive a little longer. I always hate the ending its like loosing a friend.

If you have read Noel Streatfeild's novel Ballet Shoes . . . I heart you.

I am not sure who I am going to do next. I am still looking for the perfect pink pearls for Margaret from Sense and Sensibility.

With Halloween nearing it makes me want to do something spooky..... Maybe next year I will remember.

What have you read recently? Or what have you read many times over?

There are a few books I can reread over and over again.

It was funny pulling out my photo book which is full of these. I must have spent my whole budget on film.

Some of them are so funny as I can remember the min and the laughter. Then on a couple I can't even remember who the picture is of.

So yeah a lot of shoes.

Humor

If you do not read the Yarn Harlot...you should.

Go now and laugh!

D

Look Ma

Look Ma Blue Hair!

So I did it I dyed my hair . . . parts of my hair blue.

I enjoy it. Though I learned a few thing along the way.

1. It is much easier to dye hair with another person.

2. You really really need another set of hands.

3. Next time I will have a professional do it.

I started out by trying to find permanent blue dye. Well i did not find it so I have semi permanent blue dye in my hair. I bleached out chunks and dyed them blue along with some unbleached chunks. This is the part that another person would have been most helpful. I needed another pair of eyes and hands for the back and sides of my head. To say the least it is blotchy.

But I enjoy it so.

Blue is good.

7 Weird things about me

I got tagged by my friend Leah to tell seven wierd things about me. I thought this might be kind of fun.

1. I wore Converse sneakers all four years of hs. . . and College. The big joke was that I got up so early they were not always the same color. Moving out on my own I lugged around a laundry basket full of Converse for four years.

2. Given the time and a good book I can sit in a bathtub or a swimming pool and read a whole book. Front to back.

3. I have done a back handspring wearing a football uniform. I did it great in practice and landed on my helmeted head on stage.

4. I have not eaten an eggplant as an adult. My mother has always told me I was allergic and have steered clear of them my whole life.

5. I collect copies of Little Women.

6. Someday I want to live in a barn. A renovated barn...not just a barn.

7. If a group of people are wearing the same colors....I will say so out loud.

Ok I an so normal it is boring.

Tea Time

Tea Time at Aquila was wonderful.

Yummy soup, apple goodies, salad, hummus, and chips.
oo and brownies.

Thanks Ladies.

I am busy updating the stitch markers and adding a few sets of earrings.
Green has been the color of choice for me recently. I think it has to do with fall on the way. I want to hold on to those green leaves.
But Fall is lovely to.
I have also been spinning some great wool that I natural dyed a few years back. It is so far a single ply lace weight. I am trying to decide if I want to keep it lace weight or ply it for some socks?
It is a tough choice the colors fade from one to another and I would like to keep them so. Each section is slightly different colors then the last and I really love how that appears when knit.....
next choice is what do I want to knit with it once I have it all spun?

Lastly My friend Lea has a supply shop...SupplyRiot and is having a special.

Go see and enjoy.
