Bards Beads and Bobbles

Well no. Bards, Beads, and Bobbles used to be my beading heaven. It lived several places on the Oregon coast and I would go there every time i was near or have my Mom go for me if she was down there with out me. This lovely women had vintage beads, crystal, seed, lampwork in a fashion that could occupy me for hours. She always had suggestions and a great eye for color. She is no longer in business but I still have some of my wonderful treasures. She was such a sweet person she would see the things I was craving and my limited bead budget and in the end while I was paying she would throw in one of my coveted items.

These days I spread my bead love around...

I like Planet Bead which has an ok selection. A wonderful selection of colored pearls and great little bargains.

Dava Bead is one of my favorites. I think the only reason I prefer there selection is because of these.... lampwork. There service pretty much is nill but the beads are plenty.

I also like A Bead Source on Division which has a lot more native American beads and really nice charms.

But today I am going to check out the new one on TV highway.

I am in need of stitch markers so this feeds two habits at once.

Pics of my SP gift soon.

Behold

Behold my first pair of socks.

Yarn - Cascade 220 Superwash (from my Secret Pal 3 Marti)
Needles - Brittany Birch 4's
Pattern - I used several sources mostly from a book called spinning, by Lee Raven (because someday in the future I am going to learn to spin). The diy network had helpful heel tips. The cables were my idea.

They are not perfect and are not identical but I like them.

Big Pics.

I have already started my second set. This time trying a toe up pattern on two's.

The wedding

The wedding is finished. The girl is married!!!!!!!!!!! YEAH She was pretty and the ceremony was short and nice.

The reception went great. Beckys favors were quite favorable and the bells a smash.

I am tired I can't imagine how tired the people who worked on it are. But it was quite nice. Maybe I will get a pic of Sonny and I to post. But we were both quite cute in our new cloths.

Knitting was pretty nil.

Crap on toast

Double crap on toast. My tiny weeny size 0 circular needle made the sound of impending death.

It crunched. It now is split and slightly bent. You can see the little crack that is going to split off any moment.

Crap.

Who makes good not cruchy size 0 circle needles? Don't say boyd because they may not crunch but they don't slid from needle to wire. They catch.

Crap.

I got mail.

I recieved two packages.

One is a fun little package with a cute soft plush monkey. He is so cute. He is riding around in my car. Then a great Mug with two yummy tarts for my simmer pot. Thanks Jenny.

The second was my scarf from the scarf swap. I am so excited about I wore it around the day I got it. Thank you Chey.

Pictures as soon as I can.

About moi

Tagged by the wonderful Deb

1. What was the last book you read or are reading?
The Last book I read was Snow Garden by Christopher Rice. The book I am currently reading is The Effect of Living Backwards by Heidi Julavits.

2. Where did it come from (library, bookstore, gift, etc.)?
I bought both off of Close out books. I buy books from lots of places though.

3. How many books do you read per year?
Well when I was in 8th grade I read 136 books that year. The amount of books I read really depends on what else is going on in my life. I love to read and have a tendency to get sucked into books and want to finish them super quick, I am more than willing to sacrifice sleep to a good book. During school or during heavy work times I have to put aside the books, this is hard. But I still read a lot but I am not telling you how much. Just know a lot.

4. What is your favorite genre?
Books are my favorite genre. No real favorite if it captures my attention and my imagination its a keeper.

5. Name 5 favorite books:
Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead, Tom Stoppard (It’s a play)
Affinity & Tipping the Velvet, Sarah Waters ( I think I like all the books she has written)
Hood, Emma Donoghue
Anne of Green Gables, L.M. Montgomery.

I could go on and on but these are some of my more unusual favorites.

6. Who will you tag now?

Hrmmm....

Knitlet, Brynne...Because she has a new baby.

I was knit together in my mothers womb, Lynne ...Because her beautiful picture of Salina was taken in front of a wall of books.

WOW

Mission one - to find something to wear with Herman* and try not to laugh at what you look like with Herman hanging on to hair. Thankfully Herman is crystal and not an ugly colored rhinestone.

Mission number 1.5 - remember to wear Herman to wedding.

Mission number 2 - Is more fun. Finish Kitty beds. The yarn is dyed and test one has been made. Sebastian will have a new kitty bed to come home to after his teeth get cleaned. Yes Kitty teeth need to be cleaned every once in a while. (Lecture) Keep up on your kitty vaccinations and don't think it can't happen to your kitty.

I guess there are three missions - decide weather to make Sonny - Janda or to make her Rouge.

*Herman is a hair burrette.

Swirl

It starts out a bit of a mess

Then it spreads its wings and becomes

But if you look close

You will see I take poor pictures

But I like the swirl I have made. I have one more skein of the red so it shall become a little bigger.
