Fruit loops

I tried my first non kool aid dyeing....I got fruit loops.

The dye pot looked really well saturated and the colors looked all nice. I just don't think I quite had everything right. I either did not put in enough dye or did not heat it long enough. The dye bath was not exhausted but the only color in it was red. It could be a combination of the two.

Trial and error... But there were some really great colors that came from the mix. That I would like to reproduce in some stripy yarn. I have not decided how to proceed with the spinning of this fiber. Weather to separate like colors or to just spilt and spin plying the weird color combos next to each other. They are not dry enough to try yet but they should be soon if the sun would come out. I did not end up with much green but the green that I did get was a real great forest green with sides being a bit lighter.

The one that does not go is one that I just added blue and red to so it is not really a brother to the fruit loops. More of a cousin from Montana. But I do like him. But haven't a clue what to do with such a tiny amount of blue. Maybe sock heels or something special....hmmm

I am taking Biology 101 and Drawing 101. Drawing is a million times better than Bio. We are doing a horrible group project in Bio. I have a group of right out of High schoolers that I am sure are going to bail. It is a three week lab project. Two are consistently late to lab. One doesn't speak and spins the ruler on his pencil. All three have no IMAGINATION. That just bugs me ...... I hate group projects with people I don't know. You never know how they are going to turn out and you end up spending most of your time doing what someone else said they were going to do.

On a happier note this is my sister we had a little photo op last night after I had school. I went to school and she went to work so either way I would hope we both had a moment to gain knowledge.

This is Dino in her natural setting...the computer in her room at my parents home. What you can't see in this crappy washed out photo are her cute little dimples.

What a pain in my arse but worth it.....I guess.

I am still knitting I just don't have very much to so for the last couple days. Maybe tomorrow.

Wabbits and wabric

Visted the dentist today....

So I visited the fabric store as well.

I am not a big fan of Christmas out before Halloween not to mention thanksgiving. So I got a little bit of halloween fun. I am thinking some little Zipper totes. I dont' know how to put a zipper in yet these should give me a little practice and they are cute.

The other fabrics I want to make some needle rolls out of.

I was in a very orange mood today. Its not even a color I generally care for. But today it sang to me. I have some other orange fabric that goes as well. The two main prints I won't put together.

Lastly a little hop from the main hops around here. The one with mostly white on the head is Mrs. Bunny and the other one is Mr. Bunny. They are brother and sister so no baby bunnies. We have one other bunny which is Betty bunny but he was unavaliable for photos today.

STUPID people

what's happening in my town. BEAVERTON SCHOOLS

THIS IS SO WRONG IN SO MANY WAYS.

I HAVE SEEN THE LARAMIE PROJECT SEVERAL TIMES.... IT IS NOT JUST A PLAY ABOUT A GAY PERSON.

DIVERSITY ANYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS PLAYS CONCEPTS APPLY TO SO MUCH MORE.

IF YOU GET A CHANCE TO SEE THIS PLAY GO. GO. GO. GO

BEING DIFFERENT IS NOT BAD. BEING GAY, LESBIAN, QUEER IS NOT BAD.

I strongly encourage anyone to support there LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bi, trans, queer) youth. Support means a lot to all youth and especially youth that don't have enough.

Know what you are saying....

Every said that's so Gay.... What does that mean? Why do you say it?

If you don't say my straight friend or here is a straight joke...Don't say my Gay friend or here is a lesbian joke for you...... We are normal people ...If you don't give all your friends a title why title one group.

Definitions: or Definitions. Definitions. I recommend reading it but here are few from one site.

Ally A person outside of one, some, or all of the GLBT communities whose attitudes and behavior are both anti-homophobic and anti-heterosexist and who works toward combating homophobia and heterosexism on the personal and professional level.

Ze, Se, Sie, Hir, S/he Gender non-specific pronouns

Woman One who identifies with the feminine gender role, regardless of present sex or sexual identity. (Plural: women).

Transgender (TG) A term used to include Transsexuals, Transvestites, and Crossdressers. It can also represent a person who, like a Transsexual, transitions - sometimes with the help of hormone therapy and/or cosmetic surgery - to live in the gender role of choice, but has not undergone, and generally does not intend to undergo, SRS (see No-Op).

Queer In the past, a derogatory term for gay men and lesbians. This has been reclaimed by more GLBT activists during the 1980s and used in such slogans as, "We're here, we're queer, get used to it!" Considered a more inclusive term than "gay," queer also refers to some radical politics and GLBT scholarly studies.

MTF or M2F Male-to-Female. Used to specify the direction of a change in sex or gender role.

Lesbians A gay female; Women who form their primary loving and sexual relationships with other women. Some lesbians perfer to call themselves "lesbians" and use the term "gay" to refer to gay men. Others use the term "gay" to refer to both gay men and lesbians.

Label How someone thinks of one, as opposed to how one sees oneself (see Identity).

Intersex Intersexuality is a set of medical conditions that features "congenital anomalies of the reproductive and sexual system." That is, a person with an intersex condition is born with sex chromosomes, external genitalia, or an internal reproductive system that is not considered "standard" for either male or female.

Gender Gender is expressed in terms of masculinity and femininity. It is how people perceive themselves and how they expect others to behave. It is largely culturally determined.

Gay Usually refers to a homosexual male, but can also refer to a homosexual female, as well as the gay community in general.

FTM or F2M Female-to-Male. Used to specify the direction of a change of sex or gender role.

Marriage is love.

1) Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, liposuction and air conditioning.

2) Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

3) Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

4) Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all; women are still property, blacks still can't marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

5) Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of Brittany Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.

6) Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn't be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren't full yet, and the world needs more children.

7) Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.

8) Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America.

9) Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That's why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.

10) Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven't adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans...

---Re-post this if you believe in legalizing gay marriage

Marriage is love.

First...crush

The first big rain is on.

Oregon driving etiquette:

Things I think are important and well common sense.

Drive with your lights on. Don't question it just do it.

Honking your horn does not make the rain, traffic, or time pass any quicker. You must be from out of town because a lot of Oregonians don't do the honking thing.

Speedy in your big truck slow the (beep) down. You are not in that big of a hurry to get in a wreck. Rearending someone is no good...Makes people pissy and backs up traffic even more. Slow down if the general traffic is going 40 in a 55 there is a reason. No one wants to spend all day in traffic.

I fully recomend cranking up the toons and jamming out. But don't ruin my jam session by blasting your bass and rocking my car. Keep the ear drums safe while you jam.

First Crush:

Well I have never spoken a word to my first crush. It was silent heart break as we passed in the halls of middle school and high school. I am going to google there name and see where they are today.

But this sweater is love at first sight...just like Sonny.

Mystery Shawl 1

Here she is. And yes she is bright pink.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com Image hosted by Photobucket.com

The pattern is the mystery shawl one. I quite enjoyed seeing how it developed. It is a little on the small side for someone of my size. Its point lands right over my butt. Its like a big arrow.

It is a mix of merino and silk. I was happy to find that one bobbin of lace weight singles made this shawl. Its not really lace weight more of a skinny fat type of lace weight but I like it. It has a little more weight to it than real lace weight but i am getting better with every bobbin I spin. I have quite a bit left of the color so I might try making a couple lacey scarves.

Boogie knits had a couple lace scarf links up the other day and I took a fancy to this one. The Day Flower lace scarf.

I have a list of things I want to make a mile long and it never really seams to bother me to add another one to the stack.

Mystery shawl two starts in a week. I have not decided on the yarn to use for that but I will need to move away from the pink family for a project. I am thinking that I have some great sage or a wonderful burnt orange. Will see I also have some blush pink.

Tomorrow Flock and fiber. Who knows what I will come home with ... Maybe and Idea as to what to make with my pretty Alpaca/merino/silk from SP5. But then again petting it is a nice thing to.

Really this was just going to be a short little picture shot. But my pictures are taking a really really long time to load. WELL no wonder I was trying to load huge pictures.

River is stolling along wonderfully. She is a bit wrinkled at the moment otherwise she would have had a photo op as well. Katrina is all ribbing and that just takes a lot outta you. She is moving though almost to the sleeves. I may see if there is a way to make the sleeves a bit longer. I know others are going to try as well but I just don't do the short sleeve thing well. It may not be freezing here but it gets cold.

Enough rambling.

Gonna blow

Hopefully that doesn't sound to obscene. But I was going to show you some finished objects and my works in progress but realized they are all in my car. So I give you the next best thing. Something new.
Meet Frankie
(Butt sniffer)
That is Frankie's nose.

He is a little bit wary of the yarn.

But he will sniff it anyway.

The project Frankie is investigating is not River. Which is out in the car but Katrina Rib top.

This picture reminds me of Kae.

This is Katrina Without Frankie. I had fun making Stitch Markers to go with it.

One day I will have real content again. Tomorrow I might even tell you about the crazy knitters I met tonight. But I need a stiff drink and a moment to process them before I try and tell someone about them.
